A 'WONDERFUL' Bracknell mum who has fostered a staggering 81 children in the past 25 years has been nominated for a Pride of Bracknell Award.

Sian Clayton, surprised her mum Carol by putting her forward an accolade in recognition of the incredible work she does with children.

Sian, who lives with her parents in Binfield, said: "What she does is wonderful and you can just see that she loves doing it. Mum just wanted to give a bit back and is very passionate about the care she provides.

"To see her give other people love who wouldn't have had it elsewhere is incredible."

Humble Carol was shocked when she heard Sian had nominated her for the awards - which have been running for eight years.

"What I do is a team effort, I couldn't do it without my husband, Bryan, and my own children's support.

"I do it because I enjoy it, not for the recognition. I don't want to come across as a Mother Teresa but if this brings anyone forward that wants to get into fostering then I'll be happy.

"It's so lovely to be able to do something for these children."

The Claytons have looked after 81 children for varying periods of time - from two weeks to two years - until social services find them permanent homes.

The 50-year-old has two birth children - Sian, 22 and Ryan, 30 - but the family has also adopted three disabled children over the years, Melissa, now 11, Leigha, four, and Caitlin, who sadly died, aged just two, ten years ago.

The Pride of Bracknell awards ceremony will be held at Bracknell and Wokingham College on Friday, April 26, attended by shortlisted nominees and VIP guests. Deadline for nominations is Sunday, April 7.
