ONE Step Ahead's shock exit from reality TV show Got To Dance has left their proud teacher reeling.

The girls aged 14-17, from Wokingham, Reading and Crowthorne, beat thousands of rivals to reach the last 30 on the Sky One show, which has attracted more than one million viewers.

They put their hearts and souls into their performance in the semi-final Sunday - only to receive three red stars from the judges and the boot.

The girls train at the Jayne A Coleman Academy of Dance, in Old Wokingham Road, Wokingham,

Jayne Coleman said: "We were just absolutely dumbfounded by the whole thing. It was all a little bit contrived, especially as there's been such a huge amount of support for the girls.

"I don't think I would ever do the show again."

She added that support for One Step Ahead was overwhelming, despite comments from the judges about them being 'too perfect', and the dance act was the third highest trending topic on Twitter on the night.

"I don't think they [the judges] get true technique," she said. "I don't think the girls did anything wrong, they just didn't have the requirements that they were looking for - which was street dance. I think they were set up for a fall; it was like it was all set up."

But Ms Coleman said the girls had a "wonderful experience" on the show until they got kicked-off on Sunday and have already bounced back from the shock.

"They're all really okay - they've got tremendous support around them and what we're doing is moving onto the next thing," she explained.

The girls - along with the rest of the dance school - have now switched their attentions to getting ready for the All England Dance semi-finals in June.

Did you watch the show on Sunday night? Was the judge's reaction fair? Were you surprised by One Step Ahead's departure? Have your say below.
