Jessica, a black short-haired kitten, is less than a year old. She is a bit shy but very affectionate once she has waited her turn, as she is used to three other siblings. She would be suited to living with cats and a family with children aged over seven.

A CHARITY that cares for abandoned and unwanted cats is appealing for help to rehome them.

The Bracknell and Wokingham Districts branch of Cats Protection has seen a dramatic increase in the number of abandoned cats.

The branch has 62 cats in foster care waiting for a loving home and publicity officer Lynne Pothecary urged people not to forget about the older cats. She said: "It's rewarding when you feel like you're making a difference but it can be heartbreaking when we can't find the loving older cats a home."

To look at some of the cats that need new homes, please visit the Cats Protection Bracknell and Wokingham Districts branch website at http://bracknell.cats.org.uk

There are also pictures in this week's Bracknell and Wokingham Midweek, distributed free to homes in the area.

If you are interested in offering any cats a home, call Cats Protection on 0845 371 4212 or email the branch on readingeastcp@hotmail.com
