BRACKNELL'S police chief is keen to prove to residents what a 'lovely place' the borough is.
Chief Inspector Dave Gilbert, who became police commander for Bracknell Forest last month, said low crime levels and the impending start of regeneration of the town centre meant it was a great place to live and work.
He said: "We need to get the good name of Bracknell out there. Our crime levels are actually lower than Wokingham but it is often reported Wokingham is one of the best places to live in the country."

Donít fool yourself Mr Commander, crime FIGURES are lower in Bracknell simply because most crimes are not reported. Why? Because there is little point in reporting many when it often takes days or even weeks for the police to attend. This in turn means the figures are not a true reflection of whatís going on. It doesnít help when you try to go to your local police station only to find it closed for lunch.
