Thug jailed for battering baby

A 21-year-old man who battered a 13-month old baby leaving him with a fractured skull has been jailed for five years.

Stefan Michael James, of Romney House, Blewburton Walk, Bracknell, inflicted "numerous" head injuries on the infant when its crying disturbed him, a court heard.

James pleaded guilty to inflicting actual bodily harm and grievous bodily harm on the boy and was sentenced today at Reading Crown Court.

Dickon Reid, defending, said James was "thoroughly ashamed of what he's done", which was "out of character". Mr Reid said James was "immature" and "yet to learn how to control his temper", as the result of a "chaotic upbringing".
