A woman driver hurled abuse at a PCSO who ticketed her for parking near a school and ended up being fined for a public order offence.
Bolanle Mary Ijagbemi, of Church Road, Woodley, was convicted at Reading Magistrates' Court on January 14 of using insulting words towards PCSO Justin Butler.
On February 7, 2012, he issued a parking ticket to Ijagbemi, 39, after she parked near a school on Ambleside Close, Woodley.
But, the court was told that she refused to accept the ticket and became obstructive and abusive toward the PCSO, who is from the Woodley neighbourhood policing team.
Ijagbemi also refused a penalty notice which was issued to her for swearing and requested a court hearing.
She was convicted and fined £300 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15, and to pay £250 court costs.
PC Jenny Swain, Neighbourhood Specialist Officer for Woodley, said: "As a neighbourhood team, the local community regularly ask us to enforce parking restrictions at schools and we make every effort to do this.
"I hope it sends a strong message to the minority of people who flout the law that abusive and threatening behaviour towards our staff will not be tolerated.
"I would also like to take the opportunity to thank those members of the public who gave their support by providing their evidence to help secure a conviction in this case."
