PLANS for 1,500 houses in north Wokingham and the improvement of Cantley Park will be discussed at a community forum tonight (Monday January 14).

Wokingham Borough Council has earmarked land from Matthews Green Road in the south to the A329(M) in the north, and from Toutley Industrial Estate in the west to Coppid Beech roundabout in the east for development by 2026.

At the north Wokingham Strategic Development Loca- tion (SDL), there would also be shops, schools, community facilities and open spaces.

The council says homes would not be built in Cantley Park, which is in the middle of the SDL. Instead, it wants to improve the park with extra sporting facilities.

Three options are: l A new football centre with grass pitches for youngsters and an indoor tennis court.

l A five-a-side artificial turf football centre with a fitness gym, changing facilities and multiple indoor tennis courts.

The north Wokingham Community Forum meeting starts at 6pm at Wokingham Town Hall, in Market Place, and is open to residents and other interested parties.

Developer Crest Nicholson will present plans to build 274 homes at Kentwood Farm, off Warren House Road - part of the 1,500 planned properties.
