Awards for little battlers
COURAGEOUS Berkshire youngsters battling cancer could receive an award recognising their bravery.
The Little Star Awards, run by Cancer Research UK, encourages relatives and friends of young cancer patients or survivors to nominate possible candidates for special recognition.
Helen Johnstone, the charity's spokeswoman for Berkshire, said: "Every week about four children are diagnosed with cancer in the south east. But the latest survival estimates show that incredible developments in treatments are offering children and their families new hope of beating the disease."
In 2011/12, 108 children in the south east received the award and recipients got a trophy, £50 TK Maxx gift card and certificate signed by celebrities such as JLS, Mo Farah and Steven Gerrard.
