Calm before the rush: Cars are set to clog up the area around Sandy Lane Primary School today as classes resume.

PARENTS who drive their children to school in Priestwood are being urged to walk instead.

Youngsters attending Sandy Lane Primary School are being put at risk by heavy traffic and inconsiderate drivers, claims working mum Katie Pryke.

Mrs Pryke, whose daughter used to attend the school, told the News that parents clog up roads around both Sandy Lane and Garth Hill College at drop-off and pick-up times, parking up on the pavements and obstructing pedestrians and also her home in Shepherds Lane.

But Bracknell Forest Council's transport development manager, Roger Cook, said the council promotes walking and cycling to school and encourages parents to keep car traffic to a minimum.

What do you think? Are you a parent who drives your children to school? If so, why? Do you think they should be walking? Were you near the schools this morning - was it overly busy? Comment below or email news@bracknellnews.co.uk
