TRIBUTES were paid today to a "generous, intelligent and beautiful" Bracknell woman found dead during a Christmas party at one of Reading's top hotels.

Danielle Cooke, 22, was celebrating just days before Christmas on Friday, December 21, at the Millenium Madejski Hotel, which backs onto Reading Football Club's home ground, when she plummeted down a staircase.

She was found at the foot of a fire escape stairwell with massive head injuries in the early hours of Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, her family said: "Danni was a generous, intelligent and beautiful young woman.

"Our family is still in shock at her untimely death and would like to request that the press and public respect the family's wish to mourn her loss in privacy and with dignity. Thank you."

A post-mortem examination revealed she died from head injuries consistent with falling from a height and police, who are treating her death as "unexplained", are still investigating.

Call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 with any information.
