BRACKNELL Forest Council's executive committee promised to freeze council tax for the third consecutive year.

Following the acceptance of the Council Tax Freeze Grant and a zero increase in both 2011/12 and the current year, borough councillors heard at Tuesday night's executive meeting that keeping council tax at the current level will still generate a total income of 48.812m in 2013/14.

The Department for Communities and Local Government grant will give local councils the equivalent of a 1% increase in council tax, meaning BFC would receive 0.492m in the next financial year.

The executive at its meeting in February will recommend to the council the level of council tax, the results of the overall budget consultation and the final budget proposals.
