Man on trial accused of lover's murder
A LOVER brutally battered his girlfriend to death just days after she refused to have a sexual threesome with him and a male friend, a jury was told today.
The 43-year-old woman's skull was shattered with a pair of metal shears, which caused brain damage and her body was then dumped in an underpass near the couple's home in Basemoors, Bullbrook, Reading Crown Court heard.
Tuanjai Sprengel, know as "Tuk", also suffered a number of broken fingers, caused as she tried to defend herself from the brutal blows which rained down on her head in a fatal attack in the subway off Bay Drive on May 27.
The prosecution alleges that days before her death, Tuk confided in a pal that boyfriend Muhammad Shafi , 28, had asked her to have a threesome with him and that he had become enraged when she refused. "Shafi had suggested that he and Tuk should have sex and the friend should join in," claimed Alan Blake, prosecuting, at the start of Shafi's murder trial on Monday.
Shafi denies murder. The trial continues.
