BROADMOOR Hospital staff were too afraid to speak out against Sir Jimmy Savile despite "knowing" he was a paedophile - according to a former staff nurse.

Richard Harrison said he kept his two young daughters - now in their 20s - away from the "suspicious" TV star and would not allow them to sit on the presenter's knee when he dressed as Santa Claus at staff Christmas parties.

Mr Harrison, 64, who lives on the Broadmoor estate and worked at the hospital for 30 years after joining in 1974, told The News: "He was a Pied Piper of children, all the right-thinking people knew he was a paedophile, he behaved like one, he looked like one."

Police are investigating more than 100 allegations of sexual abuse by the celebrity, including ones from former Broadmoor patients who claimed he assaulted them on the site.
