CHARITY workers and volunteers in Bracknell are furious with another Berkshire branch of the same organisation for setting up shop in the town.
Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East (SABE) opened its new store in Wildridings Square this month, but Age Concern Bracknell Forest - which has been running for more than three decades - is worried about the impact it will have on its own fundraising.
Tracey Hedgecox, chief officer at the Age Concern Bracknell Forest day centre, in Forest Park, said: "We didn't know it had opened until one of our volunteers said: 'I didn't know you'd opened a shop!' However, Mark Stevens, director of business development for SABE, defended the store, saying: "We provide a number of services that overlap with Bracknell and the funding goes to support the organisation."
