THE waiting is over for hundreds of youngsters as they collect their A-level results this morning (Thursday). We will be publishing the overall results from each school in our area here.

Add your congratulations and comments at the bottom of the story.

Among those celebrating their results were St Crispin's School student Rachel Phelps, 18, from Finchampstead, who achieved A*s in biology and maths and an A in further maths, enabling her to go to Nottingham University to study maths. She said: "I'm so happy! I did better than I thought I would. I've been feeling really nervous and anxious for weeks."

The number of students taking A-Level examinations in Bracknell Forest schools rose to 374 in 2012, compared with 340 in 2010 and 296 in 2009.

Dr Janette Karklins, the council's director of children, young people and learning, said: "It was a delight to visit schools this morning and see so many students overjoyed with their achievements. Congratulations to all those young people who have worked so hard to achieve these results. There have been many outstanding individual performances.

Stephanie Lovell-Read, 18, from Finchampstead, a pupil at Abbey School in Reading, will read chemistry at Oxford, having achieved A*s in biology, chemistry and maths and an A in physics.

She said: "It's a great relief. I have been thinking about the results pretty much from the moment I finished the exams."

See the News on sale next Thursday (August 23) for more reaction from students and schools plus lots of photos.
