A 93-YEAR-OLD woman escaped unharmed after a bedroom blaze today (Sunday).

The pensioner fled her home in Queens Hill Rise, Sunninghill, when the fire broke out on the first floor of the detached house at 2.15pm.

Crews from Bracknell and Windsor fire stations arrived to put out the flames, which badly burned a set of curtains and caused severe smoke damage to the rest of the room.

Bracknell station watch manager Martin Fowler put the cause of the fire down to strong sunlight reflecting off a mirror and added: "She was very shaken but she did the right thing and raised the alarm and a neighbour was there to look after her."
