Knitters to aid of air ambulance
A CRAFTY group have stitched together creativity and charity to fundraise for a worth cause.
The Village Knitters, which meet in Sunningdale, raised £1,000 for the Thames Valley And Chiltern Air Ambulance (TVACAA) by selling their creations at the end of last year.
On Monday [23] they invited TVACAA paramedics Tracey Alden and Lisa Brown for lunch to hand over the funds - and offered them some top tips on knitting too.
Sheila Williams, founder of the group which has 12 members from across the area, said: "It was a happy day, there were lots of questions put to the air ambulance girls, they were great - real ambassadors for the cause.
"Everything we sold before Christmas was knitted by us and we raised the money really by doing some hard work through the year."
The Village Knitters have decided to adopt TVACAA as their charity after a vote by members. They will continue to raise funds for the cause at the Ascot Retirement Fair at Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday, August 15 where they will again be selling their creations.
