Lessons are worlds apart
YOUNGSTERS learnt about different cultures and sampled culinary delights during a Round the World Week.
Children from Meadow Vale Primary School in Priestwood took part in activities throughout last week including dressing up in different costumes from around the world.
Each class was assigned a country and pupils then swapped classes to learn about other countries around the world.
On Wednesday, March 10, key stage two pupils brought in artefacts and souvenirs from French and Spanish speaking countries to share with others and they also enjoyed a French and Mexican lunch menu.
Pupils also took part in a competition to win a French breakfast and classes had to make something visual on the theme of French and Spanish culture.
Anna Miller, modern foreign languages co-ordinator at the school in Moordale Avenue said: "The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about French and Spanish culture in such a practical and fun way.
"The competition was very exciting, and the children and staff were all keen to win the French breakfast!" Rachel Sheridan, geography co-ordinator, added: "It was a fantastic week. All the children learnt about different cultures, places and locations and what it feels like to live in different countries.
"I think it is vital children learn about different cultures, it just opens their eyes."

Report commentHi! I used to go to Meadowvale School and lived at 120 Priestwood Avenue 8where the garden wall back onto the top playground at the school. I've been married to a Spaniard and have lived near madrid for the past 30 years! if the children of the school want to know more about Spain, please tell them to get in touch!!It used to be a great school all those years ago, and I can see that it still is now. Many congratulations to the teachers for promoting understanding between different cultures.
