SPORTING clubs are set for a boost thanks to a new artificial pitch.

A new Astroturf pitch at Cantley Park, Wokingham was opened on Thursday, last week with the help of Reading Football Club players Michail Antonio, Adam Federici and Jem Karacan as well as footballing youngsters.

Cllr Liz Siggery, executive member for corporate services, said: "This newly resurfaced pitch is a great asset to sports teams within the Wokingham Borough and they are already benefiting from this modern facility. To be able to offer this high standard sports pitch to such a wide range of people will provide another way to help keep Wokingham Borough residents healthy."

Complete with floodlights, the 100m by 64m pitch is available for hire during the day, evenings and at weekends. A net will divide the pitch so that it can be hired as a full pitch or half size.

Teams or groups interested in booking can email pitch.booking@wokingham.gov.uk or call Wokingham Direct on 0118 974 6000.
