ASBO hoped to stop persistent offender

A PERSISTENT offender has been handed a two year Anti-Social Behaviour Order following a string of offences.

Steven Harwood appeared at East Berkshire Magistrates court on Wednesday, July 1 and was given the two-year ASBO banning him from areas of Wokingham as well as being found guilty of an offence of criminal damage on Saturday, April 11, and offending public decency on Wednesday, May 6 and Monday, May 11.

PC Naomi Jolliffe, anti-social behaviour co-ordinator for Wokingham Local Policing Area said: 'Anti-social behaviour at this level cannot be tolerated. I hope Mr Harwood"s ASBO will send out a reassuring message to the community.

'This ASBO means that when he commits any breaches of the conditions he will be dealt with robustly, and automatically be put before the courts.'

The ASBO specifically prohibits the 58-year-old from entering certain parts of the Wokingham area:

1. Not to enter or remain having entered, the area known as Finchampstead Cross Road (specifically including Ratepayers Hall) from The Dittons to Windsor Ride and from Gorse Ride South to Wick Hill Lane, except to visit the surgery in Finchampstead Road, Jat"s Chemist and/or the Co-op stores from the direction of Finchampstead Road (south).

2. Not to have entered the area as permitted before 9am daily

3. Not to have entered or left the permitted area via the Doctor"s surgery side of Finchampstead Road,

4. Not to have left the area as permitted after 12noon daily,

5. Not to have left the area as permitted by way of Finchampstead Road to the South,

6. Not to have entered the area as permitted via Finchampstead Road to the South,

7. Not to loiter or remain in the permitted area for anytime or for any purpose except to visit the surgery or shop specified,

8. Not to cause any person within the areas any actual harassment, alarm or distress by virtue of disorderly abusive or threatening words or behaviour.

9. Not to cause any person any actual harassment, alarm or distress within Wokingham town centre (this area specifically includes Barkham Road as far as it"s junction with Latimer Road).

10.Not to enter Lloyds Bank, Broad Street, Wokingham or it"s foyer at any time.
