A PUB had a close call when an out-of-control car stopped just in front of it.

The driver of the Peugeot is not thought to have been injured when he crashed through a fence and stopped just before the White Hart in Easthampstead Road, Wokingham, at 2.30pm today (Saturday).

Firefighters were called out to stop petrol leaking from the damaged tank and Wokingham fire station crew manager Russell Gascoyne said: 'The vehicle had lost control and had basically collided with the fence and ended up outside the pub.'

He added: 'The driver seemed ok. He was very fortunate.'

this article seems to make the accident not very serious.I was in the pub sitting in the bay window when the accident happened, it was a bit more serious than you portray.to have the window broken and glass thrown onto the table, not to mention the fact that both my wife and i ended up on the pub floor, as it sounded like a bomb going of when the car hit the pub does portray a different picture. How can a car loose control on that stretch of road? if people were out the front they would have been killed, i think a lot of people were very lucky not just the driver

And the fact that it was The White Horse in Wokingham, not The white Hart.
