AN INDEPENDENT agency is seeking resident's views as it reviews the proposed merger of two hospital trusts.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is reviewing the proposed merger of Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and the Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The CMA has issued an 'invitation to comment' to seek the views of third parties on the proposed merger, and to examine the impact that it would have on patient choice and the quality of healthcare services provided.

The CMA is the new independent competition and consumer agency that has taken over the Office of Fair Trading and Competition Commission’s role in reviewing mergers across all sectors of the economy, including healthcare.

The deadline for comments to be received on the proposed merger is Friday, April 11.
