Pupils from Edgbarrow School took part in their annual sponsored walk alongside Kieran, Kier building firm’s safety mascot, and raised more than £12,000 for the school’s PTA.

The money will help provide school trips and activities for the students.

Stuart Matthews, deputy head teacher at Edgbarrow, said: “We hold a sponsored walk annually to raise funds for the Parent Teacher Association and we were delighted to be supported by Kier this year. They helped over 1,000 students cross the Broadmoor site. Our students were pleased to meet with the staff and mascot Kieran as they passed through.” Kier has stepped in to provide careers advice to youngsters interested in joining the construction industry and will be holding careers events at the school throughout 2015.

Steve Giles, Kier senior project manager at Broadmoor, said: “We were more than happy to help the school complete their sponsored walk. Although we’re currently working on site, our team worked quickly and efficiently to make sure it was safe for everyone to cross. We’re also really looking forward to working with Edgbarrow School on their upcoming careers events.”
