He was joined by Sir Michael Wilshaw, head of Ofsted, Radio Two presenter Simon Mayo, and comedian David Baddiel as guests at the Sunday Times Festival of Education.

There were a host of fun activities to entertain hundreds of visitors of all ages, including science shows and cookery demonstrations for students on how to make nutritious meals inexpensively.

Guests were also able to pit themselves against Usain Bolt’s time in the festival running tunnel, and guests who stayed overnight were able to go ‘glamping’ in glamorous bedouin-style tents.

The festival also included events and speakers on vocational education and apprenticeships.
