A CHARITY dive at one of the most exclusive film studios in the world will help raise money to provide scuba experiences for people with physical or mental health problems.

Martin Weddell, from Divecrew, based at Brookers Corner in Crowthorne, has confirmed that people will be able to set foot on an underwater stage on Remembrance Day this year.

The dive will take place at Pinewood Studios, in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire and will start with scuba- diving injured soldiers laying a wreath on the bottom of the stage.

All money raised by members of the public paying to take part will go to Deptherapy, which helps disabled people to scuba dive.

Mr Weddell said: “I have been working on the proposal for many months, and when it was received by Pinewood Studios they not only approved the event, but said they loved the concept and want to be very much involved.

“The underwater stage is very much off limits to the general public – until now you had to be James Bond or another film or pop star.”

He made the announcement following a scuba fashion show, held at the Coppid Beech Hotel, in John Nike Way, Bracknell, last Tuesday. Models took to the catwalk to showcase all the latest scuba diving and Après diving gear, and guests were then offered discount prices on the items they saw.

Divecrew co-owner Sue Coffey said, “It was a really fun evening showing some amazing après dive clothing, scuba diving wet suits and associated equipment.

“Our suppliers really got behind the show as it was quite different – we have not heard of another scuba fashion show being staged in the industry.”

More details about the Remembrance Day dive will be available in the coming months.
