TWO of England's finest sevens rugby players have given Crowthorne's Wellington College a boost with an expert training session ahead of their appearance at Twickenham.

Christian Lewis-Pratt and Sam Edgerley returned to their former school to pass on some wisdom to the Wellington sevens side, who will feature at the home of English rugby in front of thousands on Saturday (May 11).

The opportunity to appear at Twickenham as part of the final round of the HSBC Sevens World Series came about following Wellington's victory in the Festival tournament at last month's Rosslyn Park HSBC National Schools Sevens competition.

They now face Open tournament winners, Cumbria's Sedbergh School, for the chance to be crowned overall champions.

Lewis-Pratt and Edgerley, who have starred for the England sevens team during the HSBC Sevens World Series so far, also played together for Wellington and won the National School Sevens competition during their time at the Crowthorne college.

"I remember when we won it was a huge moment for us and I remember being ecstatic, so it is a huge moment for them I am sure," said Edgerley.

"They are going to be playing in front of a big crowd and they are playing the seventh game on, so it should be a great atmosphere."

"We beat Epsom in the final with Sam traditionally scoring the winning try and it was probably the highlight of my schoolboy career," added Lewis-Pratt.

Wellington's players were thrilled to hear from Lewis-Pratt and Edgerley and are now hoping to use what they have learned from the England duo, when they take to the field against Sedbergh.

"It is amazing to have ex-Wellington legends down here," said 18-year-old Charlie Wicks.

"Having watched them on TV it is good to get their knowledge. Going into a game of this magnitude, to have their advice is very good.

"Not only will there be great players there, and a huge crowd, but for us personally we have played at Twickenham before in the Daily Mail Under-15s Cup but came out as losers so to go there again is very special."
