A MILITARY academy has been slammed for renaming a WWI sports hall after a Bahraini monarch.
The Mons Hall at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is currently closed for refurbishment and will be renamed King Hamad Hall after receiving a £3m donation for the makeover from the King of Bahrain.
And with the anniversary of the First World War next year, Bracknell Lib-Dem representative Ray Earwicker said: "I know very little about the Battle of Mons but I do feel we should respect the courage and the memory of those who fell for their country and not let the thought of a little more money in the MOD's coffers take precedence.
"Surely the Government cannot be that desperate!"
The building will reopen with its new title next month.
