AN arsonist who set fire to an expensive vehicle in a railway car park is being hunted by police.

At around 12.15pm on Friday, March 31 a BMW went up in flames in Crowthorne railway car park, causing so much damage the vehicle had to be written off.

Now British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward if they were near the area at the time and saw anything suspicious.

Investigating officer, Claire Collin, said: “We know that there were no faults with the car so our efforts are fixed on establishing exactly how this fire started.

“We are currently working to the assumption that the fire was started deliberately.

“Fortunately there was no injuries during the fire, however the vehicle has been completely written off.”

She added: “Were you travelling through the station car park at the time and noticed anything suspicious? Any information would help so please get in contact with us.”

Anyone with information should contact 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016.
