THE MAYOR will be attending her first Pride of Bracknell awards ceremony this year.

Bracknell Forest Mayor Tina McKenzie-Boyle was elected to the post in May 2017, a month after the 2017 awards.

This year, she will be attending along with her husband, the deputy Mayor, Cllr Bruce McKenzie-Boyle.

Mrs McKenzie-Boyle spoke of her excitement for this year’s ceremony.

She said: “There are so many deserving people in our Borough so it must very hard to sort through the nominees. But I am assured those who been put forward to be a ‘Pride of Bracknell’ are very worthy of this accolade whether or not they do become winners.

“I very much look forward to attending and can’t wait to see who are our ‘Pride of Bracknell’.

“Once again this event is sponsored by Redwood Technologies who we must thank enormously for their unswerving generosity and support for our Borough.”

The awards evening, which will be held on Friday April 27, celebrates the best that the town has to offer, and rewards those who give up their spare time to help others.

There are multiple awards given out, and local residents have had the opportunity to nominate their local heroes for awards.

The award ceremony will be hosted at the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy by Reading FC legend Ady Williams, along with his BBC Berkshire co-host Andrew Peach.

Nominations are now closed, but you can read all the action from the evening in the May 2 edition of Bracknell News.

Awards range from ‘Team of the year’, to the John Nike Pride of Bracknell Forest- Young Person’s Award.

Redwood Technologies, Honda, Waitrose and Panasonic are just some of the local businesses sponsoring the awards.
