A POPULAR PCSO has been recognised for her efforts by the communities she serves.

PCSO Hilary Hyslop covers Birch Hill and Hanworth and has been nominated in the Public Worker Champion category for the 2009 Pride of Bracknell Awards.

Her work with various local groups including scouts, guides and schools was highlighted, as was her involvement in the creation of a new drop-in session for young people at Birch Hill Community Centre.

The officer was nominated by Pat Kennewell, who lives in Birch Hill and said: "Nothing is too much trouble for Hilary. She is always willing to listen to bring about a sensible solution to local problems from serious anti-social behaviour to parking problems. If she can't do it then she knows someone who can." "Hilary puts a lot of herself into an area she takes personal pride in. We are both lucky and proud to have her working alongside us. She thoroughly deserves recognition from both her peers and the neighbourhood." Having been in her role for two years, PCSO Hyslop is also a community governor at Birch Hill Primary School. She said: "I was very pleased when I heard I had been nominated. I have worked with Pat for a long time and she is a real champion of the community, so it means even more to me - she has helped me a lot along the way.

"I feel it's part of my job to be mixing with everyone and helping them when I can."
