A HOTEL worker has admitted to being 'flattered and surprised' by her nomination for a Pride of Bracknell Award.

Diane Goodchild, 49, is the work experience co-ordinator at the Coppid Beech Hotel and has been put forward for the Education Champion gong.

She said: "I am very flattered, it's a complete surprise, I did not expect it all. I co-ordinate the work experience and make sure the students are alright when they are in the hotel. We do our best to get them the work experience they want.

"We have a nice relationship, they regard you as a friend and an ally. I get on quite well with young people anyway and it's nice to be able to give them that support." Mrs Goodchild, from Kennel Lane in Bracknell who also trains youngsters at Windsor Canoe Club every Wednesday, was nominated by her friend, Sue Gilbert.

She said: "Diane has had a very difficult year as her husband died in January, but she is still always very positive. She is an all round good egg and deserves some acknowledgement for what she does.

"Even through her difficult times she has always found time to help other people. She is a brilliant friend and neighbour."
