IT'S time for readers to put their thinking caps on and get nominating for this year's Pride of Bracknell awards.

The hugely successful awards ceremony recognising the good and the great from the Midweek and Bracknell News' readership patch is back.

Later this month people will have the opportunity to put forward who they think deserves an award and recognition for their work in Bracknell, Ascot, Wokingham, Crowthorne and Sandhurst.

This is the time to put forward someone who has gone above the call of duty in their work place to help champion the education of young people, or who has served your community or neighbourhood with their volunteer work.

Nominations for the Pride of Bracknell Awards 2009, supported by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, will open on Thursday, September 17.

For the following six weeks after that nomination forms will run in the News highlighting a different category and award each week.

After judging takes place in November, those shortlisted will be invited to a glitzy evening celebration at The Grange Hotel in Bracknell to be held on Monday, November 23. Rebecca Johnson, editor of the News, said: "We know that out there among us are people striving to make our communities a better place to live and to help neighbours and strangers succeed in life.

"The News is delighted to once again bring the Pride of Bracknell awards to our readers and we are urging people to now think about who deserves to be celebrated and thanked for their work." Helen Barnett from Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, said: "Bracknell Regeneration Partnership is pleased to be supporting the Pride of Bracknell as it enters its fourth year. The awards are a real chance to celebrate what our town represents, and it's an opportunity to recognise some of the huge contributions that are made. Every year we stumble across a new story and we wouldn't want this year to be any different.

"This year there are some new categories and we are confident we will receive some great nominees.

"Many of our local heroes go unsung, so the Pride of Bracknell provides the chance to put forward someone for recognition.

"I urge everyone to enter the awards and nominate those that really deserve a Pride of Bracknell Award."
