K4, based in Charles Square and operated by the Kerith Community Church, has been told by landlords Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) to vacate its current unit by Monday, June 1, to make way for the next stage of the town centre’s demolition.

With only K4, Sebastian Action Trust’s Bas Books and Bracknell Shopmobility as the three charity shops left in the town, staff at the shop feel the shop needs to carry on to offer something a little bit different with a worthy cause behind it.

A petition has also been launched by the shop, which has been in the town centre for three years, asking for helping in finding a new permanent home and has already garnered more than 300 signatures, despite only being started only a week ago.

Rob Eveleigh, the shop’s manager, said: “We totally understand the nature of the town centre’s regeneration and we have been very fortunate that we have stayed in the town centre for as long as we have.

“We are privileged for the opportunity given to us by BRP to have a shop too, but we want to be part of the relocation programme if possible.” The shop gives all of its profits to a number of good causes run by the Kerith Community Church, including Bracknell Foodbank, a job club and a debt help clinic. Mr Eveleigh estimates that since the shop began life three years ago, it has donated more than £21,000.

He added that he believes many people visit the town centre just to go to K4, which sells items such as clothes, books, DVDs, bric-a-brac and electrical items.

He added: “We have a lot to thank BRP for but we think if they realised how popular we are we might have a chance of securing a spot in the town centre for the long term future.

“I think if at the 11th hour they can squeeze our small shop into a unit then that would really help us. Anywhere close to the town centre would be great, if not directly in the town centre.” Anyone who can offer a retail unit for the K4 shop, get in touch by visiting www.kerith.co.uk/social-justice/k4-charity-shop.php
