Sophie, Countess of Wessex, cut the ribbon to officially open the Bracknell NHS Urgent Care Centre in Brants Bridge last Wednesday.
She spent time having a look around the centre’s facilities, was entertained by a choir from Holly Spring Junior School in Bullbrook, and even tried her hand at plastering, alongside youngsters from Dair House School in Buckinghamshire.
Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, chief executive of OneMedicalGroup which operates the centre, said: “It is fantastic for the hard-working care team and local children to meet Her Royal Highness as she officially opens the centre.
“We feel the centre plays a key role in the Bracknell community and the surrounding area, and our fantastic Patient Education Centre facility supports our patient-first approach.” The centre opened on April 14 last year and replaced the former minor injuries unit at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot. It is open every day of the year, from 8am to 8pm.
