The deaths are not being linked but both involve residents of Birdsgrove Nursing Home in Warfield Road, Priestwood.

On Sunday February 8, a 93-year-old woman died in hospital. Her next of kin have been informed and a forensic post mortem has taken place Two people have been arrested in connection with the death; a 43-year-old man from Hillingdon and a 19-year-old woman from Bracknell. Both were arrested on suspicion of ill treatment or wilful neglect of a person without capacity under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and have been bailed until 8 March.

On January 31, an 86-year-old woman died in hospital. Her next of kin have been informed and a forensic post mortem has taken place.

No one has been arrested in connection with this incident.

DS Richard Johnson from the Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit said: “Thames Valley Police has launched a joint investigation with HSE, the Care Quality Commission and Bracknell Forest Council Adult Social Care Health and Housing department, and we are working jointly with them to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The deaths are being treated as unexplained at this time and it is important to stress that although they both involve residents of Birdsgrove Nursing Home, we are not currently linking them.

“Measures have been put in place to ensure there are no risks posed to other residents of the nursing home and anyone with any concerns should contact Bracknell Forest Council or Thames Valley Police via the enquiry line 101, quoting URN 675 of 15/2.”
