The Christmas Shopping Challenge wants to get more people into the town centre to buy their gifts this year.

Retailers have welcomed the challenge, which was launched at the beginning of December, as they face pressure from the town's ongoing regeneration.

Craig Strugnell, Bentalls store director, said: "I'm very happy for Bentalls to be participating in the BFC Shopping Challenge. It's a great way of reminding our customers of the fantastic selection of brands in our store, and of course of rewarding their loyalty to the town at such a challenging time."

The challenge works by shoppers having their card 'stamped' when they spend £20 or more in a participating shop.

Cards with four stamps can be included in a prize draw run by Bracknell Forest Council - the closing date for entries is Monday, January 5.

There are 10 prizes worth £250 each, with winners announced in January.

Lisa Forbes from Cargo in High Street, said: "It's a really positive idea and will encourage people to come into the town centre to do their shopping."

Cllr Brunel-Walker, said: "I'm really pleased to hear that this initiative is helping to encourage more people to use Bracknell town centre throughout the festive period. "
