Cllr Dee Hamilton has produced the calendar for 2015 to show how much the town has changed over the years, with some never-before-seen pictures.

Landmarks such as South Hill Park, the post office in High Street and the shopping district in the town centre are all featured, with photos across the last 60 years appearing in its pages.

Past and present pictures of Wildridings Primary School, the Angel war memorial in Stanley Walk and transportation around the town are other themes running through the calendar.

All funds raised from the calendar, which costs £10, will go towards Cllr Hamilton’s chosen charity of the year – Berkshire Women’s Aid (BWA).

Cllr Hamilton said: “Since becoming town mayor, I have seen Bracknell undergoing change on almost a daily basis. This inspired me to consider the people who make change possible. As a teacher I spend a lot of time educating children about the history of Bracknell – buildings old and new cause extensive classroom debate.

“This calendar is a celebration of Bracknell people enjoying daily life past and present. It is a tribute to everyone who is helping shape the future of Bracknell.

“The calendar could not have been produced without the help of many local people and businesses, and I’d like to thank everyone for their ideas and support.” BWA provides advice, support and refuge services to victims of domestic abuse. It also provides information and education on the subject to make the case for effective action against domestic violence, intimidation and psychological abuse and for policies that support victims of abuse.

The calendar can be purchased for £10 from the town council offices on the first floor of Brooke House in High Street. All the pages of the calendar can be viewed on the town council’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Bracknelltowncouncil For more information, call the council on 01344 420079.
