Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP), which has organised and funded the event, has announced there will be two switch-ons this year on Sunday, November 30 - one in Princess Square at 4.30pm and the other in Charles Square at 5.10pm.

A sprinkling of magic will be added by 18-year-old Martha Collison from Ascot, a quarter-finalist on this year’s BBC series The Great British Bake Off and a pupil at Charters School in Sunningdale, 17-year-old skeet shooter Amber Hill from Binfield - the current BBC Young Sports Personality Of The Year - and 23-year-old swimmer Andrew Willis, who participated in the London 2012 Olympics and bagged a bronze medal at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The trio will help turn on both sets of lights and will follow in the footsteps of actress Dani Harmer, who helped switch on last year’s town centre Christmas lights.

Heart FM DF Toby Anstis will host the evening, which will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display from award-winning Bullbrook-based Star Fireworks.

Youngsters will also have another reason to celebrate, with the opportunity to meet cartoon favourite Peppa Pig, who will be making appearances between 10am-4pm in Charles Square and are free to attend.

Rob Morris, general manager for BRP, said: “The Christmas Lights Switch On in Bracknell has always been an outstanding community event, so it seemed very fitting to invite some of our very talented local heroes to be part of this year’s event.

“We are delighted to have Martha, Amber and Andrew joining us. Toby Anstis has also been part of previous events in the town centre and we are excited to have him back in Bracknell. With the ever popular Peppa Pig also being part of the day, we are anticipating another fantastic festive day to kick off the Christmas shopping season in Bracknell.”
