Craig Back, 36, of Lowestoft Drive in Burnham, admitted two counts of attempted burglary and three counts of burglary and was sentenced to two years in prison in Aylesbury Crown Court yesterday (Monday).

The charges related to a number of offences including visiting Martin's Newsagent in The Square, Harmans Water with intent to steal on Monday, February 17.

The other incidents took place in Aylesbury, Camberley, Addlestone and Windsor.

Another man, 35-year-old Mark Derriman of no fixed abode, was also charged with one count of attempted burglary and one count of burglary in relation to the Aylesbury and Camberley incidents, and was sentenced to 18 months in jail at the same sentencing.

Detective Constable Austin Parry from Local CID at Gerrards Cross said: “These offenders undertook a spree of commercial burglaries targeting cigarettes from supermarkets.

“They were convicted of two burglaries at Co-Ops in Tring and Great Missenden in April and declined to admit to committing any further offences in the crime spree.

"It is satisfying to secure convictions for five further burglaries. I am pleased justice has been served for the victims and the general public has been protected from these men’s activities for a significant period of time.”
