Boehringer Ingelheim agreed to donate £1,000 for camping equipment to 1st Jennett’s Park Scout Group.

Paul Adams, from the group, said it had grown steadily since being founded in 2012 with a small number of Beavers meeting in the school hall.

Now based at the estate’s community centre, 1st Jennett’s Park Scout Group has now grown to approximately 65 young people across the Scouting sections of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, with the Scout troop being formed in February this year.

Mr Adams said: “Being a new Scout group means we have started from scratch.

“We don’t have equipment that has been purchased over the years and therefore have to borrow much of the equipment we need for camping and outdoor activities from other local Scout groups.

A significant effort is being made to raise funds so we can build up our own equipment and camping stores, to give the young people the maximum opportunity and experience that Scouting can offer.

“This generous donation has had a significant impact on the group, enabling us to purchase tents to cater for 24 young people, as well as utility tents, and other equipment, that will make the provision of camping and outdoor activities much easier.

“On behalf of the young people who directly benefit, their parents and the Scout Group, I would like to say a huge thank- you for the generous support provided to the Jennett’s Park Scout Group.” Tina Jackson, from Boehringer Ingelheim, which has its UK base on the Southern Industrial Area in Bracknell, said: “Although Boehringer Ingelheim is one of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies worldwide, we are still an independent, family-owned business which puts family health at the heart of the company.

“Our UK office has been in Bracknell for almost 50 years and we feel very much part of the local community.

“What better way to support our community than to help these youngsters enjoy the experience of the great outdoors with their friends. “We are delighted that we can now do this with the purchase of the tents and other essential camping equipment.” The district Scout groups covering the Bracknell area are the South Berkshire and South East Berkshire areas.
