Published: 3 Sep 2014 17:300 comments

SELF-DEFENCE courses will be held at Great Hollands School to raise money for a struggling family which has just had triplets.

In exchange for a donation to the cause, the course will cover a range of aspects of self defence, from verbal de-escalation to simple but powerful attacks to help fight off a potential attacker.

The course is spread over two weeks on the mornings of September 9 and 16.

Aimed at women, the course will be led by Gillian Rose, a female instructor who also runs karate lessons at the school.

The courses have been jointly organised by Silwood Park Karate club and Facebook community group People Help The People.

The course will build confidence and awareness for every participant and will also cover the safe and legal use of weapons.

Gillian has taught Karate for more than ten years and works with her husband Daniel to run children and adult classes at Silwood Park Karate club.
