Hoardings were put up by the building’s owner, Comer Homes and machinery moved in last week.

The building is set to be dismantled over the next few weeks. It was decided not to use explosives to demolish the building due to the impact dust and rubble would have on nearby Waitrose supermarket.

Robert Sheppard, senior engineer at Comer Homes, confirmed contractors are now on-site and that ‘soft strip demolition works’ had started.

The demolition was originally planned to be completed by November, but with works expected to take six months to complete this has now been pushed to February 2015.

Known as Bracknell’s biggest eyesore, the former 3M buildng will be replaced by a new development comprising nine blocks with 311 apartments, a cafe, shops and leisure facilities.
