A SECTION of a busy residential road should be less noisy when resurfacing work is completed.

Part of Ringmead in Great Hollands will be shut from Tuesday, August 26, to Thursday, August 28, from 8am and 10pm.

The section affected is the road between the junctions of Great Hollands Road and Ringwood, including the roundabout at the junction of Great Hollands Road and Ringmead.

Bracknell Forest Council, whose contractor Ringway will carry out the work, said a new, quieter road surface will be welcomed by many residents in the area who are disturbed by traffic noise.

Cllr Chris Turrell, executive member for transport and planning, said: “We are aware this will cause some inconvenience to residents but I hope local people will understand these works are essential to maintain the highway.

“The contractors will be laying a new road surface which will cut down traffic noise for people living in the area.”

The diversion route for this closure will be via Great Hollands Road and the A3095 Crowthorne Road, or this route reversed. At various times during the works, access to certain roads may only be available from one end of Ringmead.

There will be restricted access for residents and businesses affected by the road closure, with short periods during which vehicle access to homes and businesses may not be possible. At these times, people will be advised to park in a nearby street and walk to their property, with extra help available to people with disabilities where possible.

Ringway will put up information boards advising through traffic of the resurfacing start date.

The council said the work should last three days, though this is dependent on weather conditions.

Anyone with concerns about the progress of the works should call the council’s customer services team on 01344 352000 between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
