Easthampstead Baptist Church (EBC), based in South Hill Road, will use the Bracknell Forest Council grant to buy a van to expand its Storehouse project.
Volunteers in the project deliver clothing, bedding, furniture and other household items to local people who are in need of help.
The purchase of a van is set to ease the burden on the running of the project.
Simon Lace, one of the organisers of EBC Storehouse, said: “We were thrilled to be able to buy our own van and we are so grateful to the council and the commissioning team for making our vision a reality.
“In the past, finding space to store items was a challenge, but now we can make quick deliveries and this reduces the demand for storage.”
The church applied to the council for a grant to help it to continue to deliver the project and the council was happy to oblige.
Zoë Johnstone, chief officer for adults and joint commissioning at Bracknell Forest Council, said: “We are happy to support smaller or less well-known community-based organisations through grant funding because we recognise that sometimes it is difficult for them to get financial support.”
Cllr Dale Birch, Bracknell Forest Council executive member for adult services, health and housing, added: “The grant recognises the valuable work EBC Storehouse is doing.
“The funding it received to buy a delivery van is already going a long way to help improve the quality of life of people in need of care and support.”
The project is designed to help people of all ages to live independently through the donations of essential household items.
Helena Silveira at Look Ahead Care and Support – a charity that provides specialist support and care services for people across the South East – said: “EBC Storehouse helped the young adults we work with and they are very grateful.”
