TEACHER STRIKE - List of schools affected by Thursday's walkout

A NUMBER of schools will be closed or partially closed in Bracknell and Wokingham tomorrow (Thursday) as teachers take industrial action.

The National Union of Teachers (NUT) will be taking part in national strikes on Thursday and there will also be industrial action by UNISON, Unite the Union and GMB as well as the Fire Brigades Union.

The strike has been called by the NUT over long working hours, performance related pay and changes to teachers’ pensions, and is the third time teachers will strike in the ongoing dispute with education secretary Michael Gove.

Binfield Primary - classes 3SEB, 3SBR and 4MO cannot be catered for and there will be no SENCO work.

College Town Infant and Nursery School - the whole of Year 2 classes will be closed, along with Hedgehog class. All other classes will be open.

This list of school closures is subject to change. Please contact individual schools for further details of closures where not explained above.

The decision to close a school is taken by the headteacher, based on a local assessment of staff availability and site safety issues, and if possible in consultation with the governing board.

Council services may also be disrupted in Bracknell Forest and Wokingham due to the strikes though contingency plans have been put in place.
