BRACKNELL firefighters were called to a grass fire in Swinley Forest this morning (Wednesday).
The crew were called at about 10.15am to the fire, near the entrance to Woodlands Ride in South Ascot, which was about 30m x 10m.
They required assitance from an off-road vehicle from Maidenhead, which used a pressurised water gun to extinguish the flames.
Firefighters spent about two and a half hours on the scene and believe the fire was started by peat burning underground.
Watch manager Michael Fulwell also wanted to thank two young boys for alerting them to the fire.
