Evie Shallom, from The Oaks in Bracknell, has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and has been in and out of hospital repeatedly in the past month.

However, the eight-year-old – who is a finalist in this week’s Pride of Bracknell Awards – is helping to organise the fun day at The Pines School, in Hanworth Road, Birch Hill on Saturday, May 3.

There will be a range of attractions on offer including a cake stall, nail bar, raffle, bottle tombola, barbecue, Indian cuisine and much more.

Her dad Aron, said the support Evie has received has been “unbelievable” since she became ill, and praised her bravery.

He said: “She is in the process of having chemotheraphy and other strong medicines but has had a big smile all through the process, and great support from family and her school, St Joseph’s.

The money raised at the fun event – which has been named 'Evie’s wardrobe of multi-coloured wigs’ – will go towards wigs and hats for her.

Members of Evie’s family including her mum Nicola, uncle Alan and grandfather Brian have all shaved their heads to support other children who have lost their hair due to cancer.

They raised £1,300 and donated it to the Little Princess Trust – which provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland.

Nicola said: “I am a very very proud mum of a very brave little girl who hasn’t cried at all, who doesn’t feel sorry for herself and has smiled through all her treatment. She deserves a gold medal in bravery.”

The fun day will take place from 11am to 3pm.
