Bracknell and Wokingham College is inviting people to its open day to hear about courses and opportunities on offer.

The College, based at Church Road, Bracknell, is hosting the event on Saturday, March 15, from 10am-2pm.

It will be a chance for people to take a look around the site, and meet the principal and teachers.

People will be able to ask questions about different courses and subjects, as well as college life.

A complimentary pack filled with information and giveaways will be available, for both school leavers and those interested in the adult courses.

There will be a talk about different apprenticeships on offer, and since August, 2012, the number of people taking up apprenticeships has increased by 47%.

This coincides with the seventh National Apprenticeship Week, from Monday, March 3 to Friday, March 7.

Apprenticeships are an alternative to full-time education, and involve studying and working at the same time.

Keylen Wilson, 17, from Bracknell, is currently undertaking an NVQ Diploma Level 3 Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship, after completing a Level 2 Beauty course.

She works four days a week at Pennyhill Park, Bagshot, and studies one day a week at the college.

She said: “I chose the apprenticeship route after completing a full-time course at the college, because I like that you are earning while you are learning. You also get real life experience and as this is such an award-winning venue I am learning from the best.” “I had my apprenticeship interview with the college and then I rang around the area looking for jobs and came across Pennyhill Park. I was determined to get a position there and I was really lucky to be offered an interview and got the job.” Kirsty Amato, Spa Therapy manager at Pennyhill Park, said: “It was something we’d not done before but once Keylen had explained to me what was involved I was really passionate about getting on board.” To sign up for the open day, visit http://www.bracknell.ac.uk/openevents
