HUNDREDS of homes in Crowthorne will benefit after plans were revealed to improve the area’s water supply.
South East Water is pumping £104,000 into its three-phase programme to upgrade the water mains supply in the village.
The first phase is due to start in Waterloo Road on January 13 for approximately eight weeks. Phase two will start on February 13 where the water supplier will install 80metres of pipes in Lower Broadmoor Road for about five weeks.
The final phase is expected to start on March 3 in New Wokingham Road at the junction of Waterloo Road, which will take about five weeks to complete.
During all phases temporary traffic lights will be in place on each road during the works to ensure the safety of the public and and contractors.
Chris Love, delivery manager for the water supplier, said: “I know this will cause some delays to motorists, but disruption will be kept to a minimum and I would like to thank the local community in advance for their patience while this important work is undertaken.” The scheme forms part of South East Water’s five-year £390m investment to improve the water network across its supply area.
