A group of 'losers’ have something to celebrate – shedding nearly 400lbs between them.
Six members of Weight Watchers at South Hill
Park, Ringmead, Birch Hill, have lost that total thanks to the class.
They are: Angela Kozlik (100lbs), Kim Barnes (75lbs), Kim’s mum Sandra Lewis (50lbs), Stephen Heath (60lbs), Jackie Pateman (42lbs) and Nicki Jeffries, the meeting’s leader (54lbs).
Kim, from Great Holl-ands, and Wooden Hill residents Angela and Steven, who all help out at the group, received certificates in recognition of their achievements.
Angela said: “I was told by my GP three years ago
that I needed to make
some life changes; it didn’t
sound like an easy task but I have lost 100lbs in weight so far.
“My energy levels have doubled and I am now walking miles and looking forward to a walking
holiday abroad next year.”
Kim added: “My Weight Watchers journey began in January 2012. I was at my biggest and knew I had to do something.
“By May I’d lost two stone, when I started to feel breathless. I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and was admitted to hospital.
“My consultant said that had I not have lost the weight it may have gone unnoticed as I was usually out of breath. I was very lucky.
“I have my life back and feel like a new woman!”
Nicki is proud of her members’ achievements: “In all my three and a half years working for Weight Watchers I’ve never seen a 100lbs certificate; 75lbs is really rare too.”
